Mr. Cleveland is recognizing his obligations to the Populists. Mr. NB Ashby of Iowa, the new consul to Ireland who by the way is a native of Montgomery County, Indiana was lecturer and organizer for the National Farmers’ Alliance. He was a Republican until 1888 and went off on the tariff question.
